Service Description

You adjust the physical intensity to match your needs. During the class, we work together to: - Expand your movement options - Explore how what you think changes the way you move. About Luke - Luke has been curious about movement his whole life. He started training as a gymnast and acrobat when he was 12 years old, competed in the Australian Trampoline Sports Team, did some diving, trained as a contemporary dancer (he has a Bachelor of Education in Dance and Drama) and worked professionally in dance companies across Australia. He is a qualified Alexander Technique teacher and a long-time student of Ideokinesis - both practices provide support for people to learn about how to cooperate with our design to think and move with ease. He is a performer, facilitator and teacher who is continuously curious about how we move. What can I expect? To be moving for most of the 50-minute class. To roll around, get up and down from the floor, to explore different ways of moving (at your own pace) To be challenged to explore how big/fast/small/gentle you need to move today To explore questions about your thinking and moving habits and choices To get a bit sweaty (if you want to push yourself, and to exert some energy (if you are feeling up to it) To have some moments of frustration and uncertainty and some moments of feeling calm, clear and strong. Who is this class for? The class is designed for everyday people who are curious about how they move and want to learn about ways to move more efficiently and effectively. Yes, but is it for me? If you are open to trying new approaches and are able to get up and down from the floor without too much challenge, then you have the skills you need to come to class. If something is too much for you, we will modify the activity together to make it work. Everyone is encouraged to dial the intensity up or down based on what they need during any given session. If you have been ok with doing a 1:1 PT session (and your GP says you are up for this), then this class is likely to be for you. Maybe give it a try and see?
